| Shared note | Recorded as a shoemaker of Church Town, St Just when children Elizabeth, James, Amelia, Oliver Eddy, James and Mary were baptised. But was a 'cordwainer' (a shoemaker) when sons William and John were baptised. There is also a baptism entry for Charles Richards ROWE, but in Penzance 8 Oct 1837, son of John and Elizabeth of Penzance. I only mention it as the John's profession is recorded as Currier, which is a leather specialist (tanning, dressing, finishing, colouring) whose leather is used in shoemaking (amongst other things). Possibly this John too? Need to check census returns. Previously had this John as marrying Elizabeth CLEMENS on 18 Jul 1829 in St Just, but then researched all children baptised to this couple and found several before that marriage. The earlier marriage to Elizabeth EDDY fits much better with the baptisms, and that they had a child named Oliver Eddy ROWE. The Monumental Inscription also has John, son of John and E. ROWE, died 6 Jan 1865 aged 71 years. Unless I have mis-read it, this would suggest he was born before 6 Jan 1794, and the John and E. ROWE are this John's parents. It must be a coincidence that John married an 'E' like his father.
