| Shared note | In a file from Bob Beaton he has details from Joy Hammond saying that this Mary GRENFELL, baptised 1 Nov 1769, is the daughter of Richard GRENFELL and Jane WHITE. However, it looks like there is a mistake in this file as it has Richard and Jane married 6 Nov 1770 (I checked in Phillimore and Taylor, and this marriage does exist) but 4 out of 5 of their children are baptised before then. In my file I have (from Roy White) Richard GRENFELL m. Jane Honour WHITE 25 Jul 1754 (couldn't find this in Phillimore and Taylor) with the same children except I have one extra child, James, and Edward's baptism as 1764, not 1746, (which tallies better with his wife's baptism in 1771). I also have (from Roy White) Richard GRENFIELD m. Honour WHITE 22 Jul 1755 (in Phillimore and Taylor), with 4 children Richard, Honour, James and Mary. I do not yet have a marriage for a Richard GRENFELL/GRENFIELD etc on 6 Nov 1770. As a result of merging files, Richard GRENFELL currently has 2 wives with children being born to each during the same period. Obviously this is wrong and must be investigated. |
