Shared note

Lived at Bostraze when daughter Mary Jane was christened (16.7.1837), and also when son James Daniel was christened (21.7.1839), and for the census on 6.6.1841.

In the 1841 census, ref St Just in Penwith 5-103 (Bostrase): EDDY«tab»James«tab»30«tab»M«tab»Tin Miner«tab» EDDY«tab»Mary«tab»25«tab»F«tab»«tab» EDDY«tab»Henry«tab»6«tab»M«tab»«tab» EDDY«tab»Mary«tab»4«tab»F«tab»«tab» EDDY«tab»James«tab»2«tab»M«tab»«tab»

Previously, in looking for James's baptism record, I had investigated the following possible baptisms: (a) son of William and Mary, christened 28.2.1808 in St. Just (b) son of Ralph, christened 3.10.1810 in Madron (c) son of Benjamin and Mary, christened 4.11.1810 in St. Just (d) son of John and Elizabeth, christened 16.8.1812 in St. Just

As there is a burial record for a James EDDY buried 24 Feb 1837 aged 25. This eliminates couple (d). In St. Just, christian names were often handed down from generation to generation. Ralph and Benjamin are not names featured in James EDDY's descendants, whereas James had 2 grandchildren named William, so I had suspected that couple (a) were James's parents.

The clinching piece of information from Geoff McKee is that James EDDY was buried 6 Jul 1841 in St Just aged 33 of Bostraze. Also, James's wife Mary married a second time, to Peter MATTHEW on 13/14 April 1844, which concurs with the burial entry being for this James EDDY.

In the 1851 census, at no.78 at Bostrase, St Just, Henry EDDY, 15, tin dresser, b Sancreed, and Mary J. EDDY, 13, b St Just, with their grandmother Mary A. DANIEL, wid, 62, b.St Austell. Also in the 1851 Census at no.16 at Botallack, St Just, James EDDY, 12, scholar, born St Just; with uncle Edward EDDY, H, m, 52 and family (from Geoff McKee).
