EDDY Family of Cornwall

Notes from Val Skinner: James Harvey Pottenger and Mary Jane (nee Eddy) had 8 surviving children, although one son was killed 1916 WW1. I have several photos of Mary and her family and I have a copy of their marriage certificate stating her parents were James Eddy and Jane Eddy (nee Uren). I have her life story and was interested in her family as my grandfather William (I40247) spoke of his Aunt, Uncle and cousins the Pottengers. He and my grandmother Sarah stayed at their farm at Numurkah for 6 weeks in 1910 during a 3 month trip they undertook as a young married couple from Broken Hill NSW to Melbourne Vic. They travelled the approximate distance of over 700 miles by buggy with 2 horses, to deliver the buggy and horses to Melbourne for his boss. My grandf. wrote a wonderful account of this journey describing how they stayed on outback stations, farms or camped by the rivers. I am lucky to have an old photo/postcard of them on the buggy.
