| Shared note | Notes from Janice Allen: Benjamin ROWE's Will (bound in vellum, 25 pages long and in Dutch!) listed dependants in order of age, but the bottom of the 1st page was torn off listing one person and the 2nd page started with Ann Eddy ROWE. What could be seen of the first word was the top half of a B or R, and ending in 'ie', and the surname looked like LEONEOARD. Trwaling through the 1901 census, I came across Bessie LEONARD, aged 26, married and born in St Just. She was working in Wrexham as a monthly nurse to a Minister and his wife who had a one month old baby. I frantically looked for any children and found two, Agnes LEONARD 1894 and ELizabeth A. LEONARD 1896, both born in Ireland and staying with a couple called Thomas and Agnes MURPHY who also live in Wrexham. Agnes was the elder sister of Elizabeth EDDY and had married Thomas MURPHY in Penzance in 1870. For some reason, after Elizabeth died her sister Agnes and Thomas took Benjamin's daughter Elizabeth back to Ireland, where eventually she married Mr T LEONARD. |
