| Shared note | I believe this Richard married Bessie Semmens, although supporting evidence is a bit weak (although their marriage certificate would probably provide conclusive proof). In the 1891 census, Richard is recorded as a Tin and Copper Miner, aged 18, born in St Just and is living with his parents. In searching the 1901 census the only match is the following: Richard, 28, Tin Miner, born St Just. (Married to Bessie). Working backwards, looking in the 1891 census in West Cornwall for an alternative Richard (that could have later married Bessie), there are others than this Richard. There are no other 18 year olds but there are two 17 year olds in St Just and one in Penzance however none of these are born in St Just. There is a 19 year old in Zennor, but again, not born in St Just. Therefore I have concluded that Richard Eddy, son of Richard and Mary, is the Richard that married Bessie Semmens. |
