Notes from Geoff McKee: Richard EDDY (son of Thomas EDDY and Elizabeth SAUNDRY) carpenter of Trevean, bachelor of full age married Eliza EDDY (daughter of William EDDY and Mary PENGELLY) spinster of Trevean, of full age 26 Aug 1841 Morvah. [Thomas EDDY was a miner. William EDDY was a victualler.]

However, I believe that Geoff's conclusion for Eliza's parents is probably wrong - see Eliza's notes for reasoning.

Shared note

When Richard and Eliza married, Eliza's father was recorded as William EDDY, Victualler. They married in Aug 1841, over 2 months after the 1841 census, and although there are 3 possible unmarried Eliza EDDYs in the 1841 census, all aged 20; one in each of St Buryan, St Just in Penwith and Morvah, it is the Morvah family which I believe to be hers. Not only is Morvah where Richard's family were based, but also Eliza's father, William, is recorded as an Innkeeper.

This would have made Richard and Eliza 1st cousins, but this is not unduly strange.

Mary Ratcliffe had Eliza's baptism as 4 Nov 1822 in St Just - I need to check that this is the correct Eliza.

Geoff McKee proposes 4 Nov 1818 Sancreed as Eliza's baptism, but I believe these are the wrong parents. Geoff McKee had that Eliza EDDY was buried 25 Nov 1859 Morvah aged 59 of Churchtown, Morvah, but I believe the age is probably a typo, and was meant to be 39.
