| Shared note | Notes from David John & Lorraine Eddy: Ruby, as she was known, was born at Walleroo on the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia, where her father worked in the mines. She went to the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Goldfields with her parents and brothers and after her father's death in 1916, moved to Perth with her mother. Until her death she had an apartment in William Street, Mt. Lawley just doors from her brother Bert's Monmouth Street home. She was once engaged to a Kalgoorlie man who broke off the arrangement after he returned from WW1. She remained single all her life and made her living at a fashion shop she owned in Hay Street, Perth, just west of William Street. She mainly catered to tailored fashion conscience women, and on her death left the business to her niece Ruth, eldest daughter of her brother Bertram. She stood about 5'6", of very fair skin and dark hair. She is buried in Karrakatta Cemetery. |
