Shared note

Notes from David John & Lorraine Eddy: Thomas was just three years old when he arrived in South Australia with his family. As soon as he was old enough he worked the same mines as his brothers and was 13 years old when his father died, so he probably worked with him as well. With his brother Walter he arrived at Albany aboard the "Marloo" on February 4th, 1896. He was the only member of his family listed in the postal directory, and in 1900 his address was given as 473 Hopkins Street, Boulder. On the 1908 Electoral Role he appeared as living at 70 Lake Street, his brother James residence, as a miner. Soon after this he left for California, with I assume his Aunt (at the same time his Sister-in-law) Margaret and niece Sarah. Margaret nee' Warmington was the wife of his eldest half brother Benjamin Jnr, and sister to Thomas's mother, Jane Uren Warmington. He was a prolific writer to all the family and dozens of postcards were kept by his nephew Bertram's family with dates as early as 1910. His great-great-great niece Helen Marchesani has possession of these at the moment. During the 1939-45 war he was sending American inventions to patent to his brother Ambrose, and fashion magazines to his niece Rubina and great niece Ruth. He also sent boxes of American inventions to Bertram, his nephew who was unable to pay customs at the Fremantle Docks where they were held. To the best of everyone's memory he never married and died and is buried somewhere in Los Angeles where he had lived with a relation, Miss Minnie Warmington.
