| Shared note | Previously had this William married to Margaret McDonald (1902, Broken Hill, NSW), but an email from a descendant who ordered the marriage certificate says that was a different William. William lived in Broken Hill until 1929 when they moved to Western Australia. Notes from Val Skinner: My grandfather William and grandmother Sarah stayed at the farm of William's uncle and aunt, James Harvey Pottenger and Mary Jane (Eddy), at Numurkah for 6 weeks in 1910 during a 3 month trip they undertook as a young married couple from Broken Hill NSW to Melbourne Vic. They travelled the approximate distance of over 700 miles by buggy with 2 horses, to deliver the buggy and horses to Melbourne for his boss. My grandfather wrote a wonderful account of this journey describing how they stayed on outback stations, farms or camped by the rivers. I am lucky to have an old photo/postcard of them on the buggy. |
