| Shared note | Obituary: The Sydney Morning Herald, Wednesday 22 January 1919 (Australia, New South Wales) COUNTRY NEWS INVERELL.— Mr. P. B. Eddy, owner of Eddy Park, Havilah, and Albion Park, has died at the age of 81. The late Mr. Eddy came to Inverell in 1872. He was half-owner of the famous Gem and Albion claims at Stannifer. These claims were the richest alluvial mines opened in the Inverell district, as much as three tons of tin being recovered daily. This was in 1881. He afterwards retired from mining, and went on the land. For some years he grew wheat extensively, but eventually turned his attention to sheep-farming. He was a native of Penzance, Cornwall, and came to Australia in 1851. He is survived by a widow and three sons. Transcriber's note: Born Peter Bause EDDY in Sancreed Contributed by Bob Bolitho |
