Shared note

Searching for marriages between a Richard EDDY and an Elizabeth in the 30 years before their son Thomas was baptised (1803), gave 2 marriages in Zennor which are unlikely to be this Richard, and 1 marriage in Gulval which is where Thomas was baptised. As such, I believe that is the correct marriage for this Richard.

One of the witnesses to this marriage was 'Richard EDDY jnr', which suggests there was a Richard EDDY senior. One possible solution to this is that Richard's father was the witness and his father was also named Richard.

There are several possible baptisms for Richard. Searching between 1760 and 1785 (which would have made him aged 15-40 when married) there are 3 in Zennor, 2 in Sithney, 1 in each of Breage, Constantine, Sancreed and Gulval. The obvious match is the one in Gulval, whose father was named Richard which would match the above theory regarding the marriage witness. Unfortunately no mother was recorded.

I have only found 2 children baptised to Richard: Thomas (1803) and David (1806). It was unusual to stop at only 2 children, often indicating that one of the parents had died. There is a burial record for a Richard EDDY, 28 May 1806, Madron, which could be an explanation.
