| Shared note | This article was in The Cornish Telegraph, dated Wednesday October 23, 1901. I think it must apply to this James as there is no other James, son of John, baptised in 1832. "There were two funerals at the Wesleyan burial ground on Wednesday. The first was that of James Eddy of Victoria Row, New Downs, who died at the age of 69 years. Mr. James Eddy was the son of the late John Eddy of the South of the parish, who is remembered in the parish as the man who was killed by lightening. The deceased when a young man spent some years among the gold diggers in Australia, where he made his pile and was well known in the neighbourhood for several years as the captain of the St. Just Cricket Club. He suffered for some time from cancer of the tongue, which on the 11th inst. brought his history in this world to a close." |
