| Shared note | Possible marriages for John are: (a) 10 Sep 1763, Constance OSBORNE, Zennor (b) 01 Jan 1766, Mary GROSE, St Just in Penwith (c) 01 Jan 1770, Mary HODGE, Madron (d) 02 Nov 1772, Mary WILLIAMS, St Just in Penwith (e) 30 Oct 1774, Ann OLIVER, St Just in Penwith (f) 28 Jul 1781, Joan CASLEY, St Just in Penwith Of these, the St Just marriages are more likely, although John's mother's family came from Madron. Whilst looking for baptisms for any Bridget, Esther and Jenefer EDDYs in subsequent generations, I found Jenifer baptised 07 Oct 1795, Bridget baptised 30 Jul 1797 and Jenefer baptised 26 Aug 1804, all in St Just, all daughters of William and Ann/Anne. There were 3 such couples in St Just, but for now if we assume Bridget, Jenifer and Jenefer were sisters, and that William named these daughters after his grandmother and aunt, respectively, who were William's parents? Possible fathers for William (that married Ann and possibly had daughters Jenifer, Bridget and Jenefer) were the sons of William EDDY and Bridget BAYNARD; William, Thomas and John. (1) William possibly had 2 illegitimate sons named William. The one baptised 10 Nov 1764 married Mary GRENFELL, and the second who was son of Mary WARREN was baptised 01 Jan 1766. This second illegitimate child could have married Ann and had the daughters Bridget, Jenifer and Jenefer. William married Mary HOCKING, and possibly had a son William baptised 18 Jun 1780 (too young to have married Ann) (2) I think Thomas is the one that married Mary and had, amongst others, daughters Esther and Jenefer and a son William that died aged about 11 (so couldn't have married Ann) (3) Looking for baptisms of William, a son of John (and anyone), possibles are William baptised 04 Nov 1776 that could have married Ann and have fathered Jenifer (aged about 19??), Bridget and Jenefer. Parking the Bridget/Jenifer discussion for now, I have since discovered that marriage (c) above was witnessed by a Richard DELAHAY. It is fairly certain given this unusual name that this was the same Richard DELAHAY that married John's sister Jennifer. I therefore believe marriage (c) belongs to this John Eddy. There are 13 children baptised to a John and Mary in St Just after the marriage of this John and Mary in 1770. There were 3 such couples (marriages b, c and d above) at that time so there is difficulty in attributing the children to the correct couple. See notes under John Eddy that married Mary Grose. Presently, none of the 13 have been attributed to this John Eddy and Mary Hodge, although there are a few which may be their children: 1.
