Shared note

Notes from Elvia Elbro: John Hocking EDDY, also known as Jack, was a carpenter and wheelwright. Served his apprenticeship with Oats at Sancreed and some time at Falmouth. For most of the time during rearing his children he worked as a labourer then returned to carpentry. Worked for W Hosken and Sons, Penzance. Before marriage and during early years of marriage worked for his father on the greengrocery round. Taught himself to play the drums and with his wife ran Tregeseal Dance Band during the war years, mostly for charity. Organised a Welcome Home Fund (through running dances) for returning servicemen. Approx 1943 one of the dances (at the St Just Drill Hall) was attended by Margaret Lockwood, Stuart Granger, Patricia Roc and Tom Walls who were on location filming Love Story.
