| Shared note | Notes from Elvia Elbro: James Hocking EDDY was victimised at school by a female teacher - he pushed the blackboard over her and was expelled. Instead of going home he went to Levant Mine and got a job (aged 12!). Served in 14/18 war (Royal Berkshire Reg.), was gassed and spent about 6 months in hospital in Cheltenham. Worked for R. H. Chirgwin, St Just, but later started his own business (grocery, fruit and veg) and farmed a small holding at Tregeseal Hill. He was Tregeseal Sunday School Superintendant for many years. According to monumental inscription, James Hocking EDDY was buried 26 Jun 1958 at St Just in Penwith - Wesleyan, aged 76. He was buried with Lillie EDDY, buried 29 Nov 1968 aged 84, John Hocking EDDY, buried 18 Mar 1976 aged 67, Rhoda EDDY, buried 22 Jun 1972 aged 58 and Morris EDDY, buried 1937 (no age recorded).
