The family moved to Trevegean Farm, St Just in Penwith in the 1860s. James's first wife, Rebecca LEGGOE, died between 1872 (when Mary Jane was born) and 1881 (Census). To help raise the 4 children, Rebecca's sister, Christianna, moved to the farm. According to the Church Bible, it was forbidden to marry your sister-in-law, but this changed and so James and Christianna got married. In his will, James left some property to Christianna. |
