They are next door to John POLLARD, Esther (EDDY) and family. Also living with John and Esther are Thomas EDDY aged 20 and Mary EDDY aged 15 (unsure as yet of their connection with Esther). Not yet sure if there is a connection between William EDDY and Esther EDDY.

William and Rebecca's daughters, Rebecca and Margaret, are living together in the 1841 census at Truthwall, St Just in Penwith, ref 4-144. Son John is still do be located at time of 1841 census.

In the 1851 census at Carrarrack 88, St Just in Penwith (CFHS ref 1919 f 191 88): Eddy«tab»William«tab»Head«tab»M«tab»63«tab»«tab»Tin Miner«tab»St Just Cornwall Eddy«tab»Rebecca«tab»Wife«tab»M«tab»«tab»60«tab»«tab»St Just Cornwall Eddy«tab»Richard«tab»Son«tab»U«tab»17«tab»«tab»Tin Miner«tab»St Just Cornwall Hosking«tab»Rebecca«tab»Dau«tab»W«tab»«tab»30«tab»Straw Bonnett Maker«tab»St Just Cornwall Hosking«tab»Rebecca«tab»Grndau«tab»«tab»«tab»7«tab»«tab»St Just Cornwall Hosking«tab»Wilmot«tab»Grndau«tab»«tab»«tab»5«tab»«tab»Penzance Cornwall

I suspect that William died between 1851 and 1861 as the 1861 census has wife Rebecca living without William and recorded as a widow. I have checked the burial records between these dates, and only one that is a possible match: 18 Apr 1856 at St Just Wesleyan. However, it holds no other clues (age or residence), so could easily be this William however I have currently attributed it to a different William EDDY. This could easily be wrong.

Given William's age in the 1851 census, he would have been born about 1788. There are the following possible baptism records: 1. 19 Aug 1787, St Just, son of William and Ann (there were 3 such couples with a connection to St Just at that time) 2. 1 Mar 1788, Penzance, son of Richard (less likely to be this one, as in Pz) 3. 8 Nov 1789, St Just, son of Matthew and Elizabeth (this William married Elizabeth GRILLS and had a son Matthew) 4. 5 Nov 1792, St Just, son of William and Ann

So it looks like William was the son of William and Ann, and given his age in the 1851 census, he's probably baptism 1 above. The problem lies with working out which of the William and Ann couples were his parents. Possible marriages are: A. William Eddy and Ann Mason, St Just 22 May 1777. (Eliminated: William was recorded as 'of Morvah' when married and that couple appear to have had their children baptised in Morvah) B. William Eddy and Ann Trudgen, St Just 31 Oct 1784. C. William Eddy and Ann Reseigh, St Just 17 Feb 1787.
