| Shared note | In a file from Bob Beaton he has details from Joy Hammond saying that this Mary is baptised 1 Nov 1769 and is the daughter of Richard GRENFELL and Jane WHITE. However, it looks like there is a mistake in this file as it has Richard and Jane married 6 Nov 1770 (I checked in Phillimore and Taylor, and this marriage does exist) but 4 out of 5 of their children are baptised before then. In my file I have (from Roy White) Richard GRENFELL m. Jane Honour WHITE 25 Jul 1754 (couldn't find this in Phillimore and Taylor) with the same children except I have one extra child, James, and Edward's baptism as 1764, not 1746, (which tallies better with his wife's baptism in 1771). I also have (from Roy White) Richard GRENFIELD m. Honour WHITE 22 Jul 1755 (in Phillimore and Taylor), with 4 children Richard, Honour, James and Mary. I do not yet have a marriage for a Richard GRENFELL/GRENFIELD etc on 6 Nov 1770. There was a Mary Eddy buried at St Just on 14 Feb 1835 aged 67 of Botallack (transcription notes: Dropsy), that could be this Mary. Age would fit with a baptism in 1769, and Botallack is where her son Edward and family plus brother John were living, next door to her son Richard and his family in the 1841 census. Son William was also at adjacent Truthwall in 1841. |
