Marriage

Notes from Geoff McKee: William EDDY (son of Matthew EDDY and Elizabeth GEORGE) of St Buryan married Mary PENGELLY (daughter of Daniel PENGILLY and Mary FOX) 23 May 1812 Sancreed by banns, both single, he of St Buryan, she of this parish, in the presence of John EDDY and Edward FOX.

Shared note

Geoff McKee proposes that William was the son of Matthew EDDY and Elizabeth GEORGE, and I am inclined to believe this. Although I haven't found any clinching proof, there are a number of factors that suggest this is correct. The two most significant would be that William and family lived in St Buryan, and that William's second son was named Matthew. This means that William's sons Matthew and John married their cousins Jane and Elizabeth (children of William's brother, John), but this is not unduly strange.

William was recorded as a Farmer of Sancreed when daughter Eliza was baptised (1818).
