Marriage

Notes from Geoff McKee: William EDY (son of Christopher EDY and Prudence CLIMMO) married Elizabeth WERREN nee BOTRELL (daughter of Bartholomew BOTRELL and Sibil RAWLIN) widow of Richard WERREN 7 Jun 1706 St Just.

Shared note

Geoff McKee proposes that William was baptised 22 Jun 1678 in St Just In Penwith, the son of Christopher EDY and Prudence CLEMMO. Whilst this is a possibility, this baptism could belong to another William EDDY who married Susanna GENDALL on 29 Nov 1707 in Madron.

The only indication as to which William was baptised 22 Jun 1678 in St Just In Penwith is based on location. In the Philimore and Taylor marriage transcriptions for St Just in Penwith, neither William EDY nor Elizabeth BOTREL were stated as being from another parish. So, unless William moved to St Just long before he was married, he probably would have been baptised in St Just.

William and Elizabeth were married in St Just and had their son William baptised in St Just. Conversely, William and Susanna were married in Madron and their children were baptised in Madron. Although this only provides a weak indication, in the absence of any other information I believe it is more reasonable to assume that William that married Elizabeth was the one to be baptised 22 Jun 1678, son of Christopher and Prudence.

I can find no other marriage between a William EDDY and an Elizabeth, and although son Thomas was baptised in Sennen, by default I have attributed him to this couple.
