Shared note | Looking for the marriage record between a John EDY/EDDY and a Mary before 1731 (when son Jacob was born), I can find only one match; John EDY and Mary JAMES, 17 Oct 1721, St Just in Penwith. It appears this couple had several other children, and as I can find no other John and Mary couple until 1738, all children baptised between 1721 and 1738 must belong to John EDY and Mary JAMES. Assuming John was at least 18 when married, there are the following possible baptisms for John EDY/EDDY, son of: (a) John EDY & - -, 16 Feb 1696/97, St Just in Penwith (b) Bernard EDY & - -, 22 Nov 1696, St Just in Penwith However, there is another baptism, son of: (c) Richard EDY & - -, 26 Mar 1705, St Just in Penwith This would appear to be too young, but it is mentioned here due to John and Mary's first child being called Alice (there was a marriage between a Richard EDDY and Alice CLEMENTS 1 Nov 1702 in St Just). Also, John's son Jacob had a son named Richard. |
